Rural tourism in Italy stands for the ideal combination to experience living traditions, places of great historic and cultural interest, authentic italian food and wines, and nature parks. All this, always at a short distance from the most famous tourist destinations of the country.
In the context of Italian Rural Tourism, the Agroturismo (hospitality services in working farms) deserves special attention. Agriturist, an association founded by Confagricoltura (one of the principal professional farmer's organisations), promotes this kind of tourism since 1965 in close cooperation with all other touristic resources of rural Italy. Agriturist represents 1600 farms all over Italy which offer accomodation, camping, restaurants, leisure activities, and typical products. All of them are authorised according to the regional legislations, and offer excellent standards of service and comfort to their guests.
Best of Sabina is a regional organisation that covers Sabina, a historic area only 50 kms from Rome and limiting with Umbria. It is famous for its high quality olive oil, scattered with medieval hilltop villages, castles, abbeys, Renaissance gardens and archeological sites. Best of Sabina offers quality-controlled hospitality in old rural homes, farmhouses, villas and palaces in medieval villages, as well as local products (DOP extra virgin oil, DOC wines, home made regional dishes, handicraft), settled in a landscape of gentle hills of unique beauty.
