Bulgaria

At the crossroads of the geographic and cultural worlds of Europe and Asia, Bulgaria is a country of contrasts and pronounced identity. Despite the soaring popularity of its resorts, Bulgaria remains a little-known destination with a great deal to discover: big part of the country is an open-air museum of Balkan culture, with beautifully decorated churches, fine mosques, wonderfully preserved rustic villages and ever vibrant folklore. Besides the rich history, Bulgaria’s nature is also impressive. The country is ranked third in Europe in biodiversity. The highest peak on the Balkan Peninsula – Musala (2925 m.), is located here. More than 30 % of the territory is covered by forests. Bulgaria is among the top producers of quality rose oil and herbs and is a world leader in lavender oil production. The rich tradition of winemaking and the famous yogurt are also a remarkable heritage of the country.
